«Marytronics» is an experimental electronic music duo from Basel, consisting of Marie Delprat and Masha Ten. With their unique blend of pounding rhythms, pulsating basslines and noise with complex melodies, they push the boundaries of electronic music, creating hypnotic soundscapes that draw the listener into complex sonic textures.
Through evocative, nostalgic soundscapes and introspective atmospheres, Marytronics delves into themes of urban loneliness, the intricacies of contemporary life and deep emotional introspection.
Dull Star Doll is conceived as a continuous 45-minute composition. The music moves from stillness to agitation and internal dissonance, reflecting how personal affection is influenced by broader social and emotional conditions and circumstances. Stillness represents stagnation, a state of waiting for external forces to create change, while dissonance reflects inner turmoil - the clash between personal desires for love, connection, authenticity and the psychological aspect, societal or political realities that restrict them. As the journey progresses and reaches its climax, the fusion of the organic and the mechanical suggests that affection - whether personal, emotional, social or political - must evolve. This concept also reflects on our own affections and relationships with cultural traditions, education and upbringing. Academic music training, with its emphasis on precision, discipline and historical mastery, fosters a strong connection to cultural heritage.
«Marytronics» will celebrate the digital release of their album «Dull Star Doll» at Gare du Nord in Basel.
