«figures and fixtures» focuses on the main instruments of the iipm project, namely flute and percussion, as a starting point for the expansion into new areas that characterise the duo's multi-faceted identity. The programme consists of three new pieces created especially for this programme in close collaboration with the iipm project by the composers Anna Sowa, Yanik Soland and Elizabeth Jigalin. The three works are based on the core form of the flute and percussion duo and form the basis for the exploration of new areas - including preparations on instruments, objects, gestures, sampling and an artificial head. Three central concepts are associated with each work: Extension, Similarity and Subjectivity.
