«Soliloquy III» is an experiment in four disciplines: sound, movement, visual art and psychology.
I.
The project is based on previous research and performances in which the artists focused on the relationship between sound and movement. The process enabled musician and singer Alicja Pilarczyk and dancer and psychosomatic therapist Nieszka Bogusławska to develop a performance in spring 2021 in which sound and movement influence the form of the work equally. In their search for an answer to the question «What is a soliloquy?» they discovered that loneliness is not only a feeling of loss and separation, but it also has to do with bonds and communication and is capable of touching the spectrum of emotional complexity.
II.
After the first phase of the project, the artists invited a third person into the process - visual and sound artist Katherine Newton. The aim of this phase of the collaboration was to create an art film entitled «Soliloquy II», which premiered in December 2021. (→ Link ).
III.
In «Soliloquy III» the artists develop a new democratic approach in which each member of the group is equally involved in the process of creating sound, movement and visual context.
In the previous phases, the artists have recognised the need to include in their process the new non-artistic discipline - psychosomatic therapy. This direction is related both to their personal interest in the subject of human psychology and to the need to expand the impact of performance art and give it a broader meaning.
The non-artistic goal of «Soliloquy III» is an attempt to identify the therapeutic possibilities of the language they are working on. An important element of this is the continuation of the multidisciplinarity of performance: it will take the form of a performative musical installation in the process of integrating three disciplines in space, movement, body and mind.
