The «Breathing Moments» project presents a finely spun and atmospherically dense form of music theatre in which the two Swiss composers Cécile Marti and Asia Ahmetjanova and the composer Jean-Baptiste Barrière (a formative personality at Ircam, Paris) enter into dialogue with Kaija Saariaho's work with new compositions. This will give rise to new musical life in three separate world premieres. The two Swiss composers are developing the music theatre evening in collaboration with Kaija Saariaho's son Aleksi Barrière, director and dramaturge of the production, and with her husband Jean-Baptiste Barrière. The collective of Camilla Hoitenga, Robert Koller and the ö! ensemble, which specialises in Saariaho's music, is complemented by a rarely heard Nordic colour, which Eija Kankaanranta brings into play with her typical Finnish kantele.
