The radical poetic power of her language makes the rediscovered Basel author Adelheid Duvanel one of the most important voices in 20th century Swiss literature. Her miniatures are like delicacies, and the decision as to which one to savour next is always a complex one. The «Wintergäste» ensemble explores the fascinating cosmos of the writer.
They lend their voices to the master of condensation, who is able to catapult us into the centre of the stories with just a few sentences. Her characters live in precarious circumstances but assert themselves in their living conditions with somnambulistic certainty. Each story is able to expand our everyday, superficial perception of reality. We look behind facades, behind structures of power and powerlessness. Despite their sometimes dark content, the stories are full of surprising, absurd twists and a subtle sense of humour.
