Once a month on Fridays, «duoplus», led by Peter Schärli and Sylwia Zytynska, invites a guest to a 45-minute concert. With the music, «duoplus» responds to the location and seeks dialogue with the audience: the entertaining concert is followed by the second half, an aperitif with informal conversation with the audience in the wonderful rooms of the Bar du Nord. In April, saxophonist and improviser Eva-Maria Karbacher joins the duo.
Eva-Maria Karbacher (*1992) is a saxophonist and improviser who works at the interface of free improvisation, contemporary music and jazz, exploring the various sound possibilities of the saxophone and combining them with melodic elements. Improvisation and curiosity for new sounds are at the heart of her musical work.
Sylwia Zytynska (*1963) was born in Warsaw and studied percussion in Poland and Switzerland. She was interested in music, new music, improvisation, music theatre, but also in music lessons and artistic work with children and young people. In her almost forty years in Switzerland, this has moulded her into an authentic artistic personality.
Peter Schärli (*1955) began playing the trumpet at the age of ten and graduated from the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. He has worked as a professional musician and composer for theatre music since 1978 and has performed with various artists and bands in various formations and styles in Switzerland and abroad. He taught at the Lucerne School of Music for 40 years.
