dieb13 (actually Dieter Kovačič (*1973)) is an Austrian improvisation musician in the field of turntablism. Since the late 1980s, he has been continuously working on transforming cassette recorders, vinyls, CDs and hard discs into instruments. His other artist names are: Takeshi Fumimoto and Echelon. Since 1997 dieb13 has played hundreds of concerts in more than 30 countries, both as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles. In 2000, he founded klingt.org, a web platform specialising in abstract/experimental music, offering services for artists and unreleased tracks as free audio-on-demand.
A discussion with the artist, moderated by saxophonist Marcus Weiss, will round off the evening.
