For his «Friendly Takeover». João will open the folder «Los(t) Pachecos» on his computer. There he stores musical leftovers for which there is no purpose yet: Improvisations with instruments, journeys with modular systems, sound extravaganzas, even interpretations of open scores by ‘real’ composers. It's a kind of acoustic junkyard and every now and then he sifts through it and discovers exactly the right sound for a particular situation. Let's see what sounds he finds for this «Friendly Takeover».
On this evening, Strotter Inst. becomes the sound keeper of the Bar du Nord: Strotter Inst. creates dense sound and rhythm structures live with prepared turntables. The spectrum ranges from soundscapes to polyrhythmic eruptions. The anachronistic sound bodies play optically and acoustically. Analogue processing makes current sound structures comprehensible. Processed records and modified pickups are used, e.g. with violin strings or sewing needles.
