Is it possible to technically replicate something that has taken place in analogue form? Isn't a document always a document of a document? Where does veracity end and replication begin? In «Subnormal Europe», the composers, multimedia artists and performers Óscar Escudero and Belenish Moreno-Gil create an aesthetically powerful and fascinating performance that traces audiovisual fragments, follows the traces of European community and congenially brings the data overload in the media onto the stage. In the process, they put contralto Noa Frenkel into a kind of «3D video game» that plays with the milestones of audiovisual history in a stunningly frightening way.
Noa Frenkel (contralto), Sebastian Schottke (voice); ZKM | Hertz-Labor: Ludger Brümmer (project management), Götz Dipper (project coordination, Live-electronics), Moritz Büchner (video studio: technical management video), Andy Koch (video studio: camera), Güzide Coker (video studio: flap & script), Xenia Leidig (video studio: video editing, set photography, videos), Hans Gass (set stage, lights), Sebastian Schottke (Live-electronics, sound direction), Jakob Schreiber (sound recording), Bernd Lintermann (iPad software), Manfred Hauffen (technical support)
